In a previous post, I mentioned that I was going to turn the pillowcase I found at Goodwill into a shirt for E. Voila! The palm tree applique was a pain, but totally cute. I used an easy technique called "shirring" at the top; I found this explanation of shirring at sewnews.com. (More pics in Finished Projects album).

Ok, now I am thoroughly overwhelmed by your sewing, little girl! I have wanted to learn how to smock/shirr for a lifetime and always been too intimidated to try it… and don’t tell me “it’s easy”… I think following patterns is easy too, and you don’t 😉
Considering your limited sewing skill just a year ago, you should be patting yourself on the back bigtime–good going! The dress is absolutely darling ((hugs))

Your blog is lovely. I am impressed with what you’ve created.
I’m not craftsy at all, though I long to be. I’ve recently quit my job, so perhaps I will undertake a project while I search for a new one.
You’ve inspired me!
