So, after the "stitch and botch" that was my valiant attempt at a baby blanket gift, I learned my lesson and tried again. This time I pre-washed the fabrics and nixed the stripes to make it easier on myself.
Here is the Stitch (purposely skewed stripes):
Here is the Botch (not purposely coming out of their stitching – note to self: wash fabric FIRST):
Here is the "Do-Over" times two – one for each new little girl:

I really, really love these blankets! I am planning to do one w/ the stripes (prewashed, thanks for helping me learn that) for my baby. I am not finding out if it is a boy or a girl so I’ll have to do one girly and one boyish… I really love your blog!

Thanks for the comments~
The stripe mishap was just a matter of not washing the fabric first, & when I did wash it, they prob shrunk at different rates, causing the fabric to pull out of the zigzag stitch I had done. So I won’t call it quits on all applique; I just wanted to get these gifts DONE! 🙂

At least you tried with the stripes. Don’t give up, you have too much talent to give up. The finished blankets are precious and such a special gift…your time, thoughtfulness and love. You are so very special yourself.
